| Beijing: the Past and the Present, China’s ancient rulers displayed their power and lordship through the construction of magnificent palaces, imperial residences and scores of temples. Today, Beijing is home to a population of approximately 13 million, as well as being the country’s political and cultural centre. |

The city’s clear planning and the efficient transport system have made Beijing very accessible and easy to experience, while at the same time the city retains the majesty and splendor of places such as the Forbidden City. The Great Wall of China lies a mere 60 km away from the city.
In order to host the 2008 Olympic Games, the city will undergo great changes: parks and green areas are being designed by landscape architects and new sports villages are being built. |
|
| Many Beijingians speak Mandarin Chinese and are traditionally very open and willing to communicate. China’s top universities are found mostly in the northwest of the city centre. China’s capital also has a very varied cultural program to offer, including theatres, concerts, fairs and exhibitions. You shouldn´t miss it! Other events that prove to be highly interesting are the traditional holiday celebrations. |

Also only a few minutes walk away lies Tiananmen Square, here you will find the subway station that will take you to and from the hotel. The Wangfujing, Beijing’s best known and biggest shopping street, is also within a 10 minute walk. |

Eating and drinking in China is a bargain compared to European standards: countless restaurants invite passers-by to embark on a culinary adventure. Even those on a tight budget will receive a tasty meal with large variety to choose from. Because of the large number and the almost round the clock business hours of most eateries, to cook for yourself is not really worth it.
We offer Chinese delicacies, half board from Monday through Friday and lunch at the school restaurant. |
 |
|
| For those following special diets, the numerous little restaurants, snack bars or food stores outside the school offer an ideal option to come by necessary items of food. |
