Nice is more than simply the capital of the Côte D' Azur, it’s the fifth largest town in France, a chic and flirtatious coastal resort with a backdrop of wealth and fine architecture.
Located on the Mediterranean coast, at the western end of the Riviera, the city boasts of a plethora of ruins, museums, boutiques, and the appealing French café culture.
Cafés occupy weathered 17th and 18th century buildings, while outdoor markets crowd the old town's streets and Venetian-style squares. |

Like most of the Riviera, Nice has a lively nightlife and the old town center is awake until the early hours of the morning.
The July jazz festival attracts famous international artists such as James Brown, Winston and Branford Marsalis, Michel Petrucciani. The February carnival with its procession of flower floats and the famous "Bataille des Fleurs" attracts visitors from all over the world.
From here all interesting sites on the Riviera are close by - Monaco, Cannes and Antibes are easily accessible by train. There are bus services to visit St. Tropez, famous for its film and pop stars. This is the place where Mika invented the delicious ”Tarte Tropézienne".
Travel inland and you can visit Grasse, the home of perfume. Furthermore you can visit St.Paul de Vence, perched on the top of a hill, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view. Understandable why so many artists have painted here. |
