Capo Vaticano is situated on the Calabrian coast, close to Tropea in Southern Italy. Calabria, generally thought of as a maritime region, actually is an elongated peninsula with some 800 km of coastline.
Overlooking the clear waters of the Mediterranean, Capo Vaticano is known for its natural scenic beauty, beaches and far-reaching history.
Tropea, the best known town within this area, is only a short leap away from Capo Vaticano and is known for its archaeological past, modern day harbor and rustic houses built on cliff terraces
The cape is regarded as a secret haven among surfers, sailors, and divers.
From the rocky landscape of Capo Vaticano there is a wonderful view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and if weather permits, you can see as far as Sicily and the island of Stromboli with its active volcano. |

The Greeks, the Romans and even the Normans discovered the delight of this fertile landscape across the bridge of the Italian Atlas and remained there for long periods.
Today well-preserved excavations from early settlements, temples, statues, and columns give us an almost perfect insight into the traditions and customs of this period.
An absolute paradise for those interested in archaeology! |
